"It's a shock to everyone," he added.

Starship has posted a Facebook message paying tribute to Abrahamian that reads, "We are all shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player…Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul.  He was also a friend and family member.  Mark also happened to be one hell of a guitar player.  We are devastated by the loss of our brother and just dealing with it the best we can."

The band also paid tribute on their official Twitter feed, posting: "We will miss you, brother. Rest in peace, Mark".

Abrahamian lived in Austin, Texas and had been a member of the band since 2000, joining founding member Mickey Thomas in the line-up.
