Radiohead will release their new album, The King of Limbs, on Saturday, the band have confirmed in a surprise announcement.

The release was announced on Radiohead’s official website on Monday morning, with fans able to pre-order the record before the weekend.

The King of Limbs will be available as a download from Saturday for £6, while die-hard fans can buy a ‘newspaper album’ version for £30.

The King of Limbs is Radiohead’s eighth studio album and their first since 2007’s In Rainbows, which was released essentially for free with fans being given the chance to decide how much they wanted to pay for the record.

The physical version of The King of Limbs will be available on May 9, while all other versions will be available to download at the weekend.

The album will contain:

- Two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.

- A compact disc.

- Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-de-gradeable plastic to hold it all together.

- One lucky owner of the digital version of The King Of Limbs, purchased from the website, will receive a signed 2 track 12" vinyl.

Pre-orders are being taken now, with the band also releasing the artwork. Little else is known about the album, with the full tracklisting due to be confirmed over the next few days.
